Back to School Means Back to After-School!
We are so excited to be heading back to school with all of our All-Stars. We’ve been busy training our staff, including a new site coordinator and program manager, to be prepared for all of the great things this year is sure to bring. After speaking to Justin Hensley, new program manager, he says, “I am most excited to work alongside the passionate people here. Working at a partner organization, I was always inspired by the mission-driven mindset and dedication to the kids. Now I am honored to join the team and experience that daily!” ASAS is expanding into a new school site this year, Thomas C. Marsh Preparatory Academy led by ASAS site coordinator, Autumn Graves. As summer comes to a close, Autumn says, “I’m looking forward to meeting the students and staff at Marsh, and I’m excited to establish new, lasting relationships in the community.” We can’t wait to see all the students at Thomas C. Marsh Preparatory Academy enjoy activities such as cooking, art, DJ music production, and acting.
Fun in DC for All-Star University

ASAS North Texas Youth Advisory Board (YAB) member Benito traveled to Washington, DC for All-Star University with other ASAS YAB members from across the country. He was able to practice public speaking skills, learn about advocacy and create projects that will help his community. Benito had a great time and met so many new friends from Ohio, Hawaii and Tampa!
Upcoming Program Highlights at ASAS

We’re gearing up for sports this season by partnering with Bridge Lacrosse at the Garcia Middle School site! All-Stars will train, practice, and compete against other lacrosse teams in the area. At the Botello Elementary site, we’ll host leadership sessions through our program partner, Campfire. We’ll be hosting Healthy Friendships presentations through Texas Health for our students at EH Cary to make sure their school year is safe and healthy. It’s time to get hands-on with STEM & Entrepreneurship programming with our Irma Rangel All-Stars! SMU engineering students are excited to show what their field is all about through “Geared-up” programming. Other All-Stars will have the chance to let their inner entrepreneur out with The Capacitor, a fun create-your-own-business style curriculum.
Keep updated on the All-Stars...
