All-Stars and Mentors Team Up for Camp Hoop Heroes
When you bring caring mentors together with bright and eager young minds, amazing things can happen. And when you toss in a bit of friendly hoops competition, you have the perfect power play for another successful After-School All-Stars North Texas Camp Hoop Heroes.

Focused on helping expose students to different colleges, career paths and the wise words of volunteer mentors, this year’s Camp Hoop Heroes North Texas welcomed students from our Dallas-area schools. Kicking off July 11 and concluding July 15, each night featured an invited special guest who spoke to students on life-shaping themes, including Vision, Discipline, Teamwork, Respect and Preparation.

Between exercise warm-ups, basketball drills and games, leadership classes and inspiring words from a roster of engaging guest speakers, our campers were challenged both mentally and physically. We loved seeing them stretch themselves mentally to imagine the bright futures they want for themselves and how they can get there.

A big thank you to our guest speakers who helped to make Camp Hoop Heroes a success: John Tighe, JC Penney Chief Merchant; Ginger Porter, Golin Managing Director; Travis Allison, America’s Auto Auction Associate and former Navy fighter pilot; Ruby Malek Vellani, Filmmaker; Wade Smith, retired National Football League Athlete.

We appreciate all of the mentors and sponsors from partners including: MetroPCS, JCPenney, America’s Auto Auction, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Golin, Texas Capital Bank, Roy & Penny McClurg, Chipotle, PDQ, and Campisi's who made this week a game-changing experience for our All-Stars!
