Connect a Million Minds grant helps All-Stars build a brighter future with STEM
ASAS is passionate about bringing STEM to life for our All-Stars and we’re thrilled that Time Warner Cable’s (TWC) Connect a Million Minds program is helping to make that happen for more students in North Texas and beyond.

The Connect a Million Minds initiative began in 2009 to challenge parents, mentors and others to connect over one million students to after-school STEM activities. As part of this goal, TWC generously awarded ASAS North Texas a grant for STEM programming. Employees also came out this past year to volunteer with our students and build Balloon Bowling machines using STEM-based activity boxes called “Wonder Kits,” provided by Dallas Afterschool. We had a blast building the balloon machines and we look forward to working with teams again in the fall at our new school sites.

With support from Connect a Million Minds, ASAS will continue to expand our STEM enrichment club offerings. This past year, our All-Stars loved the DJ Music Production and Google coding classes offered at all three school sites. With the Connect a Million Minds grant, we will add robotics and creative circuitry to our STEM programming next year.

We can’t wait to see where STEM takes our All-Stars, and are thankful for our partners who are making dreams a reality for kids across North Texas!
